Disc herniation is a major cause of back pain symptoms, including pain radiating from the back down to the legs with or without numbness. Either one of these symptoms can cause patients suffering. But today’s technological developments have resulted in a new treatment called Nucleoplasty which is implemented using heat of around 40-60 degrees Centigrade. The heat is propelled into the herniated disc to transform liquid inside the disc into gas. Pressure inside the disc is then reduced, allowing slipped discs to move back into position. Compressed nerves caused by herniated discs are subsequently rehabilitated. Pain and numbness then also diminish.

Nucleoplasty treatment uses a special needle that is inserted into the herniated disc making only a tiny incision. The patient can go home the same day as the operation. The procedure is not harmful to the spine structure because it is performed without any bone removal. Patients can get back to their normal routine quickly. It is also relatively inexpensive compared to major operations.
