PTSD “Post-traumatic stress disorder after traumatic events” PTSD (Post-traumatic stress disorder) or post-traumatic stress disorder is a mental disorder that occurs after experiencing an event that severely impacts the mind. Immediate sudden loss in front of one that may have faced or been in that traumatic event as well. It causes a mental stress condition like a “heart wound” that affects the patient’s life.
First, let’s get to know the symptoms of PTSD. The shock, the dismay, will show symptoms in 2 stages. Stage 1 is called Acute Stress Disorder (ASD), which occurs within 1 month after the event, has sudden stress, which can heal itself. Stage 2 is called Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), which after the event has passed 1 month, feels that
- The event follows haunting (Re-experiencing), will still feel that the event is about to recur such as having nightmares, being frightened, closing eyes, still seeing that image or dreaming about that event often.
- The body refuses to stop waking up, causing symptoms of excessive alertness (hyperarousal), still feeling anxious, heart pounding, easily startled, lacking concentration, especially when reminded of that event, will be more panicked and unable to sleep.
- Trying to avoid talking about or thinking about the event that affects the mind, causing fear.
- Emotional condition changes negatively, such as being indifferent, acting indifferent, acting distant, unable to perceive positive situations.
- Depressive condition, blaming oneself for being involved in causing that event.
- Leading to alcohol addiction, depression, self-harm. Therefore, if oneself or someone close has this PTSD condition, they should receive care and consult a doctor as soon as possible.
