What is SBK LASIK?

SBK LASIK is an advanced form of traditional LASIK. It still uses a blade, but a special type that can create a thinner corneal flap. This leaves more of the cornea intact, allowing for greater correction of vision.

Advantages of SBK LASIK

  1. SBK LASIK uses a special type of blade to create a thinner corneal flap than traditional blade LASIK, preserving more corneal thickness. This allows for higher vision correction and causes less dryness compared to traditional blade LASIK.
  2. SBK LASIK offers precision comparable to bladeless LASIK (FEMTO LASIK) but at a more affordable price.
  3. It can correct nearsightedness up to 1,200–1,300 (depending on corneal thickness).
  4. Suitable for individuals with normal corneal thickness and eyes that are not small.
  5. Clear vision is typically achieved within one day after surgery.

Preparing for SBK LASIK

  1. Remove contact lenses before the evaluation: at least 7 days for soft lenses and at least 3 weeks for hard lenses.
  2. Stop taking acne medications in the Roaccutane or Acnotin group at least 1 month prior.
  3. Bring any relevant medical records, such as your eye prescription or current medications.
  4. Do not drive yourself on the day of the exam, as pupil-dilating drops may temporarily blur your vision.
  5. Get enough sleep the night before the examination.
  6. Shower and wash your hair before your appointment.
  7. Avoid wearing perfume, deodorant, or scented hair gel.
  8. Do not wear makeup, including around the eyes.
  9. Wear a wide-neck or button-down shirt that is easy to change out of.

  3. Vision may change again in the future due to age-related degeneration, family history of eye conditions, eye usage habits, or other eye disorders such as glaucoma or cataracts.
